The fitness boom of the 80’s left Americans in somewhat better shape but often misinformed and over-working themselves and under nourished. It also led to the fad of diet pills, powders and the roller-coaster diet. The fitness fad didn’t really go away going into the 90’s, but the ill effects of these diet pills, crash diets and unhealthy eating plans left, for lack of a better term, a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. As the new century broke, so did our outlook in fitness, exercise, diets and foods, along with how they relate to our bodies.
Organic became a hot topic, free of insect killing sprays thought to bring harm to food. Local farmers markets see spikes in the volume of people buying from them and as a result, people started to eat healthier. The trend to move away from processed foods, thought to be time-savers and quick fixes in the 80’s, like microwave dinners, has progressed to more natural foods. In the same mentality, the acai berry, derived from the acai palm, has also become a key player in managing weight and keeping steadfast during a diet.
Coming from central and South America’s swamplands and harvested from 15-30 meter plants, the life of an acai berry is very short, so they are often squeezed for their juice and pulp within a day or two from picking. Packed and sent off to be used in juice blends, smoothies, converted to powder form for supplements and compressed to make pills.
Thought to be one of the most amazing super foods in the world and from the Amazon, the acai berry contains several different antioxidant, amino acids and essential fatty acids. All are in such a concentrated form as to represent, in some cases, 10x the amount of nutrients from other fruit, like grapes. The dark purple fruit has a taste akin to mixed berries with a hint of chocolate.
Studies have shown that the antioxidant represent in regular ingestion of acai can help combat premature aging. Additionally, the antioxidants contain anthocyanins, these are thought to help combat and protect against certain types of cancer, diabeties and various bacterial infections, just to name a few.
By now everyone knows that saturated fats are bad and there is always talk of good fat, but never a real explanation. Acai contains these good fats, known as monounsaturated fats. These fats, combined with other dietary fibers in the acai berries help promote a healthy digestive system.
The amino acids found in the acai berries and trace amounts of key minerals also help to promote muscle health and rebuilding, essential for recovery after a work out.
Just how amazing is this super food? The acai berry holds the number one slot on Oprah’s top 10 superfoods’s list, and she only endorses products she truly believes in. It’s believed, for the reasons listed, to be a key ingredient in not only losing weight, but keeping it off and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Like most other exotic foods, it’s not always easy to come by and buying raw acai berries is near impossible due to the short lifespan of the fruit after its become ripe and harvested. Specialty stores often carry products containing, in varying amounts, acai beverages, food and powders. While dozens of different formulas are available, the Acai burn is one of the purest, best available. Because it contains primarily acai and not a lot of fillers, like some of the others on the market, it digests into your system faster, yielding results much quicker.
Taking Acai burn on a regular basis, along with proper exercise along with
eating healthy foods will not onl increase the rate at which you lose weight, it will improve and extend the quality of your life. Because Acai burn is derived primarily from the acai berry, it doesn’t contain any harmful, man-made synthetic fillers that other brands often use to help compensate and enhance their products. Consider starting the XXXX diet, not as a short term solution, but as a long term plan towards a long, beautiful life.
