Starcraft 2 Review
Starcraft 2 is finally here! After ten long years of waiting for the sequel to the biggest RTS to ever grace the gaming scene the wait is finally over.
The question on everyones mine is simple. Can Starcraft 2 live up to the hype? Well Luckily enough I was personally able to get in to the beta early and was able to see plenty of what the game has to offer. What I have seen so far from playing the game and following the community has been nothing short of amazing!
The game’s 3 races the human Terran, the insectiod Zerg, and the Alien Protoss have been balanced extremely well in starcraft 2. My hat is off to blizzard that has managed to do it again and create a game so balanced that its scary to think about it sometimes. No matter what race you chose as your “master” race you can be assured that you will be just as strong as any of the other two.
The community run tournaments on sites such as http://teamliquid.net have reached prizes totaling in the 4 figures for 1st and 2nd place with tens of thousands viewers watching each broadcast. For a game that was only in beta these numbers are very promising. If your a “serious” gamer you can try your luck at some of the massive prize pools yourself.
The game caters to casual gamers just as well though so dont be discouraged from playing if your not “hardcore”. blizzards ladder system for starcraft 2 is top notch and will almost always match you against players of your own skill level for online play. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never played a RTS or think you’re a pro you will be matched against players with similar skills to yourself.
All in all I’d give SC2 a 9/10 and I highly recommend this game to anyone into gaming at all!
